The amount of weight a person may lose is dependent upon the number of calories consumed. In order to lose one pound, you must burn 3,500 calories. You can do this by creating a deficit of 500 calories each day for seven days. Clinical studies show that weight loss varies with the individual and averages one to two pounds per week, depending on the level of calorie restriction and physical activity. During the first week, weight loss may be greater due to initial water loss.
